The GOAL (Gift of a Lifetime) program was developed in cooperation with David Conrad who is a transplant recipient himself and who wanted to give back to the community by educating children about kidney transplantation. The program has two main components: (1) a didactic component to teach children what kidneys do and (2) a second component where students role play. One of the students becomes a person with renal failure and others are potential donors. The program then uses this format to dispel the common myths of living kidney donation and open a discussion about what life is like for a person after transplantation
