H1N1 vaccination
Transplant Wisconsin Inc Would like to remind all recipients and their families to get the H1N1 vaccination. The CDC has reported a decrease in flu activity this month but it is important to remember this still poses a significant health risk to immunosuppressed individuals. Key Points 1. Only the injection form of the vaccine should be used for transplant recipients and their immediate family members 2. The regular seasonal flu vaccine is also strongly recommended 3. You can receive both vaccines at the same time 4. Increasing supplies of H1N1 vaccine are being distributed. Check with your local county department of health to get information about local vaccination clinics 5. Good handwashing technique and hand sanitizers help prevent the spread 6. Avoidance is the best strategy for someone who is displaying flu symptoms such as high fevers, muscle aches, runny nose, coughing, tiredness and GI symptoms
